AURORA - The damage to Marq Shafer's fence is eye catching, but it's nothing compared to the sign he posted next to it.

The sign reads: "WHO DID THIS? Turn in your friend for a 6 pack of cold beer!"

Shafer posted the sign after he came back to his Aurora home on South Evanston Court Monday night and found no note or explanation about the damage to his fence. He decided to have a little fun with it.

"Normally you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar, and most people like beer!" Shafer said.

His sign worked.

Neighbors called Shafer, saying they saw a Red's Towing truck back into the fence Monday afternoon. Shafer called the company and so did 9NEWS.

The owner says the driver of the tow truck admitted to hitting the fence but says the driver was only swerving to miss a child on a bicycle. The company says the driver was instructed to call 911 and leave a note but Shafer says he never found one.

Red's Towing says they are taking responsibility for the fence and will pay to have it fixed. The company is also investigating the driver's actions.
