KUSA - The service to honor fallen Jefferson County Sheriff's Sergeant David Baldwin will include an exceptional honor.

The 27-year veteran of the department was killed while on motorcycle patrol Sunday when a driver tried to illegally pass another vehicle.

The U.S. Honor Flag arrived at Denver International Airport Tuesday night. It was the flag that firefighters flew over the rubble of the World Trade Center after 9/11.

A group of area law enforcement officers greeted the Honor Flag as it arrived in Denver.

The flag will be used during the funeral procession for Sergeant Baldwin Monday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says this is a rare honor, because the flag does not travel for every fallen officer's funeral.

The memorial service for Sergeant Bladwin is set for Monday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says all are welcome to attend.
