TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Bitter weather and big snowstorms in the eastern half of the country have put a chill on the restaurant business.
Some merchants are finding sales cut in half this month. Diners and coffee shops are closing early, and waitresses are seeing their tips dwindle.
A deli owner in Cincinnati says business is down overall but adds that his takeout and delivery orders have never been so good.
Other businesses that rely on walk-ins and appointments are getting hit, too.
Toledo, Ohio, has seen a record amount of snow in January. A chiropractor there says a third of his patients have canceled in recent weeks. Most of his customers now are those hurting from shoveling snow.
