DENVER - More than 4,000 Xcel Energy customers were in the dark Thursday evening.
Xcel Energy said the outage occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the Capitol Hill area near downtown Denver.
The company's website puts the total number of customers affected at 4,535.
Xcel says the outage was caused by a lock out, where the system shuts itself off if it suspects a problem on the line.
Power was expected to be restored before midnight.
