According to the National Retail Federation, 39 million viewers plan on throwing a party and 62 million people will attend a party.
That leaves plenty of room for different types of fans, including the one "over the top fan" at every Super Bowl party.
9news psychologist Max Wachtel says there are ways to avoid this behavior.
"There are a couple good rules of thumb. One: don't drink too much. That tends to lead to jerky behavior," he said.
Another good rule of thumb is what Wachtel likes to call the "jerk test."
"You ask yourself a question: Is this something a jerk would do? If the answer is no, then go for it. If the answer is yes, you're probably shouldn't do it," he said.
