KUSA - Evacuation orders were lifted in a Morrison-area neighborhood after a strong gas odor was detected by deputies responding to a despondent resident.

The unidentified resident was placed into custody without incident in the 12000 block of West Temple Drive Wednesday night.

Jefferson County deputies were called to the suspect's home earlier in the day. Deputies said the suspect was alone but posed a threat to self and others.

No injuries or fires were reported. The person's name wasn't released.

The number of people evacuated wasn't known.

The sheriff's department first reported the incident on Twitter at about 4:30 p.m. and said evacuations were underway moments later. Natural gas was switched off and an evacuation center was opened at a high school amid sub-freezing temperatures.

The evacuations were lifted shortly after 9 p.m.
