KUSA - Team figure skating will debut in the Sochi Olympics on Thursday featuring a men's and pair's short program. Colorado figure skater Jeremy Abbott from Aspen will compete in the men's team event.
Sochi is Abbott's second and final Olympics. The 28-year-old went into this season saying that this would be his last shot.
"There is no next year. This is it. This is what I have, so I have to do absolutely everything I can," Abbott said.
He is a three-time U.S. champ and competed in the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
His life has been centered around figure skating since he was growing up in Aspen. He says he can't remember a time without ice skates.
"From the time I could walk, my mom would take me to the ice rink and hold my hand and walk around the ice," Abbott said.
Abbott will also compete in the figure skating men's events on Thursday, Feb. 13 and Friday, Feb. 14.
