LAKEWOOD - Two people were displaced after a fire broke out in the pair's basement in Lakewood Thursday afternoon.

A large burst of smoke was seen as West Metro firefighters worked to put out the fire.

The home is near the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and South Garrison Street.

There is no word on what started the fire.

Fire crews are expected to be out there battling through the night.

West Metro Fire said that there was a lot of stuff in the basement that created difficult conditions for the fire crews.
