Sweet, red velvet pancakes for Valentine's Day

DENVER - Looking for that grand gesture this Valentine's Day? Why not make breakfast in bed for a loved one?

Wild Eggs was in the studio on 9NEWS Saturday morning to talk about a unique breakfast surprise: the red velvet pancake.

To start, follow the instructions below:

Pancake Batter:

  • Your favorite pancake batter recipe to make 2qts
  • 3TBS of red food coloring
  • 3oz cocoa powder

Mix batter together and add cocoa powder and red food coloring and cook 5 small pancakes

Cream cheese icing:

  • 1lb of whipped cream cheese
  • 4tbs powdered sugar
  • 1can condensed milk
  • 1ea vanilla bean

Whip the cream cheese until smooth and add condensed milk and powdered sugar- whip for another 5 minutes and add vanilla beans- place 1oz between each pancake and 3oz on top

Chocolate sauce:
Proprietary recipe- using Hershey chocolate syrup will work just fine

Add 2 oz onto plate and serve!
