Bobby Brown of Breckenridge, Colo., was a medal favorite coming into the event but he had a difficult day on the course and finished ninth.

The two American women on the skeleton team will move on to the finals on Friday. Katie Uhlaender of Breckenridge, Colo., made mistakes on both of her qualifying runs Thursday but still finished fourth.
