KUSA - There's romance in the air and in the sky tonight! A full moon is expected this St. Valentine's evening.
When a full moon happens in February in North America it's referred to as a "Snow Moon." Just like the name suggests, it is usually associated with snow and cold air temperatures.
This does hold true to some mountain communities, but we won't have that here in the metro area with partly cloudy skies and mild overnight lows.
Maybe it's not so magical that we will have a full moon tonight, but when you talk about the possibility of having a full moon on Valentine's, that's something special. The last time this happened was 46 years ago in 1968. The moon will appear full a few days after Valentine's Day.
