SOCHI - The key getting the front seat of the Today Show in New York City may include gentle shoving, pushing or getting up super early.

But visitors don't have to do any of that in Sochi, where there are plenty of typically-coveted places to watch your favorite anchors, and the time to watch is much more forgiving: 4 p.m. local time.

"I'm here with my sister to see the best in the world compete," said Steve Robinson from Los Angeles. "It's really about supporting our athletes here, and I'm having a great time. There are just enough fans like Robinson here to form a small crowd. We are very fortunate here," he said.

In New York, the crowds are hundreds of people deep. Most Russians are understandably not familiar with the Today Show team, and there aren't enough Americans around or not attending an event to fill the crowd spots.

"I don't think as many Americans came to these games in Sochi as for example in London or Torino or Vancouver," said Today Show anchor Matt Lauer.

The Sochi stage of the Today Show is beautifully located on the platform near the Bolshoy Ice Dome.

This is the eighth Olympics for Tom Ronde from Florida, and for him, the Today Show is a must.

"I've done it every time I go to the Olympics," he said.
