SOCHI, Russia - Meryl Davis and Charlie White started their Olympic competition just as they had hoped. The overwhelming favorite for a gold medal, they felt the tremendous pressure leading their program.

They got the highest ever recorded score in their short program. It put them in a great position to will it all. They got a silver in Vancouver in 2010 and have been on a mission to make that a gold since.
They grew up together. Their families have always been friends. Even now, their moms travel together for ever competition and sit together in the stands.
A gold would be the first Olympic championship for the United States in Ice Dancing.
