GREELEY - A man is under arrest after he held an infant hostage and threatened the child with a piece of broken glass Saturday night.

Greeley Police say they went to an apartment in the 1100 block of 26th Avenue looking for a suspect.

Police say they cornered the man, Michael Mendez, in a back bedroom.

Police say it was in that room that Mendez threatened the infant with the broken glass. Officers were eventually able to get him to drop the glass. When he did officers were then able to take Mendez into custody.

Officers say that the infant only had minor injuries and will be OK.

Mendez is in custody in Weld County Jail where he faces multiple charges.
