KUSA - The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office is considering charging 83-year-old Kenneth Hosch with vehicular homicide and criminally negligent homicide in connection with a January 26 crash that killed Jeffco Sheriff's Sgt. David Baldwin.

According to an arrest affidavit, a witness said Hosch was driving his car aggressively to pass on Highway 93, and was driving more than 70 miles an hour in a 55 mile hour zone when he hit Baldwin, who was driving a motorcycle on patrol for the sheriff's department.

Baldwin was dead at the scene. Hosch was treated and released with minor injuries.

According to the same arrest affidavit, Hosch has a history of crashes and speeding tickets.

In 2013, he rear-ended a vehicle towing a trailer that was stopped at a red light. In 2010, he rear-ended another vehicle stopped for a red light. Between 2005 and 2012 he received five speeding tickets (52 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, 57 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, 72 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, 65 MPH in a 40 MPH zone and 64 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.)

Hosch was booked into the Jefferson County jail on Monday on a $10,000 bond. His court appearance is set for March 6.
