In an apparent suicide attempt, the man smashed the vehicle through the school’s front doors and drove down the hallway at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, according to Cherry Creek Schools. The man’s name has been released but given the nature of the case 9NEWS has decided not to release it.

He had minor injuries and was taken to Parker Adventist Hospital on a mental health hold, the school district said.

He faces a felony charge of criminal mischief and possible other charges. Currently, he is being held at the Aurora Detention Center until he is transferred to the Arapahoe County Jail.

Grandview was forced to cancel classes Monday although there was no structural damage. Classes will resume Tuesday and all afternoon activities will be held as scheduled.

The school district says they do not have an estimate of damages.
