Denver says no to PETA's bloody chicken statue

Bill Vidal, the manager of public works, denied the permit application from the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for the statue on the grounds that the figure of the wounded chicken constituted a type of sign.

"City laws strictly limit the installation of signs by private parties on public sidewalks," a statement from Denver Public Works said.
