Lakewood Police say they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of 36-year-old Eric Hernandez Montiel in connection to the deadly shooting Tuesday outside El Torito Bar & Grill, which is near West 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

Police say the shooting happened around 7:35 p.m. An employee at the bar Jose Beltran-Galindo, 33, was shot and killed as he escorted two male customers outside after some sort of fight in the bar, according to police.

The two men who were escorted from the bar were believed to be associated with three other men in the bar. All five of the men left after the shooting, police say.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Beltran-Galindo wounded in the parking lot. He was taken to St. Anthony Central where he was pronounced dead around 8 p.m.

Police describe the suspect, Montiel, as a 5-foot, 5-inch, 140-pound Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes.

Detectives believe he may have been driving a 2001 light gray Chevrolet SUV with the Colorado license plate 346-SMI.

The victim's stepson spoke with 9NEWS and says his stepfather was shot inside the restaurant.
