About 1,000 people attended the party on New Year's Eve. Aurora Police was called to the scene and arrested several people after fights broke out. One officer was hit in the head with a bottle during the melee.
Police also shot and wounded an armed man they found in a stairwell.
Officers also found blood in the lobby of the hotel after reports that other shots were fired. They never found a victim in that case.
Michael Millard of Trifecta Global Media Group organized the event. Monday he sent 9NEWS a statement about the Black Masquerade Ball:
"I simply marketed it to the public. This was not the target demographic I was aiming towards. I am not happy with the series of events that took place. During the hours of 8 p.m. until 11:30 we had an upscale, sophisticated crowd. Then a bunch of hoodlums came and crashed our party."
