Last Friday night around 6:30, a 62-year-old bicyclist had his ride end abruptly when he was clothes lined by fishing line stretched across the path.

The victim in this case and his family has asked 9NEWS to withhold their names.

The wife of the victim told 9NEWS she was supposed to meet him near Confluence Park. When he did not arrive, she says she contacted Denver Police and was told a man matching her husband's description was taken to Denver Health Medical Center.

"We asked the trauma room and they said that when the EMTs brought him in that he had had a clothes line accident and they kept saying that there was fishing line pulled across the bike path and that he ran into it," the victim's wife said. "He said there was an eyewitness and he flew off his bike forward, landed on his head and rolled and that they called it a booby trap."

The victim spent 20 hours in the trauma ICU and is being treated for a chipped bone in his neck, a concussion, a broken pelvis, a broken arm and multiple bruises and abrasions.

9NEWS contacted Denver Police regarding this incident and were told there is no investigation being conducted at this time.
