William Elliott, 18, of Aurora, is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping and other traffic related charges, including driving without a license and no proof of insurance.

A witnesses' description led authorities to Elliott's home where he was arrested early Thursday morning.

Police allege Elliott struck the teen as she tried to cross the busy street. The driver stopped, picked the girl up by her coat and drove away.

Police say the driver pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store, let the girl get out of the car and then drove away. They say the suspect may have intended to take the girl to a hospital and then panicked.

The girl suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Elliott is being held at the Arapahoe County Jail under a $6,000 bond.
