PARKER - Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix and Keith Richards might be a few of the names you first think of when you hear the words 'rock star,' but one Parker mom is honoring her community by taking the term a little bit more literally.
Sarah Schroeder has been painting stars on rocks and leaving them on her friends' doorsteps to show them what 'rock stars' they are on a daily basis.
"So I'm thinking, what I can do for my ladies? They're such rock stars," Schroeder said. "Rock stars? I have rocks... I can physically show them what rock stars they are."
Schroeder and her daughter began driving around her neighborhood, secretly leaving the 'rock stars' on her neighbors' porches. One neighbor found out that Schroeder was responsible, and called to find out what it meant.
"I needed that today," she told Schroeder. "You have no idea the day that I've had."
After realizing the positive difference the rocks made, Schroeder has been leaving them all around town.
"It turned into a thing," she said. "Instead of just telling my friends on their front porch, I just told them everywhere."
And she has continued to do it in secret.
"The reason for not telling everyone, for it to be so secretive, was for it to truly be a random act of kindness," Schroeder said.
