PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Pueblo residents are concerned over a federal proposal to designate the area around a historic smelter as a Superfund cleanup site.
Federal officials are concerned after high levels of arsenic and lead were found in the yards of some Pueblo homes close to the steel mill.
Residents want the contamination cleaned up, but they don't want the stigma associated with contamination requiring federal intervention.
According to KRDO-TV, the designation would provide millions of dollars to address problems.
