THORNTON - Police have identified a suspect in the shooting at a Thornton bar early Sunday morning that left one man in critical condition.
Mario Oliveros, 38, was placed into custody after being arrested at a home on the 9100 block of Gale Boulevard. He has since been taken to the Adams County Detention Facility. Earlier reports indicate that prior to Oliveros' arrest, a SWAT team surrounded the area.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Thornton Police officers responded to a report that shots were fired at Chamucos Bar and Grill at 8651 Washington St.
Authorities determined there was a fight inside the bar that included a group of three men and two women. While that group was escorted out of the bar, one person pulled out a weapon and fired shots into the building, before the entire group fled the scene. One man sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital.
While previous reports say the victim was 40 years old, corrected information indicates that he is 45.
Investigators will file charges with the Adams County District Attorney's Office later this week. Anyone with information should call Metro Area Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
