GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - A man convicted of killing his father at his father's home in Arvada has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
David Paul Arledge was sentenced Monday. District Attorney Peter Weir said Wednesday he is pleased with the outcome of the case.
Arledge had moved out of the home of his father, Floyd Carl Arledge II, after the two had a dispute, but prosecutors say he returned and fatally shot him in 2010. He didn't realize a cousin was in the basement at the time.
David Arledge's brother, Floyd Arledge III, was sentenced previously to three years of intensive supervision probation and 90 days in jail for being an accessory to murder. Prosecutors said he gave false information to investigators looking for his brother.
