KUSA - A medical helicopter was sent to a fatal accident on Interstate 70 west of Deer Trail Friday afternoon.
The accident closed westbound I-70 at Deer Trail, causing major traffic delays for several hours. The interstate reopened around 6:30 p.m.
Colorado State Patrol says the single-vehicle rollover occurred when a car went across a median. Three adults and two children were inside the vehicle. One of the adults has died. The other two were transported with serious injuries.
The two children sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Traffic from the interstate was being diverted to Highway 40.
