DENVER - Clean up on the Colorado Convention Center's Big Blue Bear began Wednesday.
The Big Blue Bear was the target of vandals on Sunday, who spray-painted its back green.
The Denver Public Arts Program had to wait until Denver Police concluded their investigation before starting the clean-up process.
The 40-foot-tall bear is the work of local artist Lawrence Argent and is called "I See What You Mean." It has been on display since 2005.
The Denver Public Arts Program is using a contractor for the clean-up, which Chavez said should take less than a week.
Vandalism of this scope happens very rarely to public art, Chavez said. The bear's location and size will be the biggest hindrance to its clean-up. Cleaning crews will have to rent a lift to reach the higher parts of the bear.
