BRIGHTON - A man was convicted Friday for strangling a woman to death in an Adams County motel.

Michael Smith, 34, was convicted of first-degree murder and sexual assault in the death of 34-year-old Krista Boma last July.

Boma's body was found in a room at the Valli Hi Motel, near Highway 36 and Pecos Street. Investigators say Smith strangled Boma with his hands and a belt.

A jury found Smith not guilty on a robbery charge.

Smith will be sentenced Wednesday.
