LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - A rainstorm appears to have knocked the popular Boulder County Fairgrounds "osprey cam" off the air.

Vivienne Jannatpour, a spokeswoman for the county's Parks and Open Space Department, says the last image from the solar-powered webcam was captured at 4 p.m. May 8, with one of the adult birds sitting atop at least one egg. The camera provides live feeds and still images near the osprey nest that sits atop a platform on the eastern edge of Cattail Pond.

County workers can't get to the camera to diagnose and possibly fix the problem for fear of disturbing the osprey family. Nor will anyone be allowed to get close to the nest until after the chick or chicks hatch and venture outside the nest.
