LYONS - What should take weeks is taking days. Homeowners in Lyons are under the gun, trying to clean up the flood damage before the snow.

Residents in Lyons spent the last few hours of daylight Thursday hauling away debris and winterizing their homes. According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, many people are still working without electricity.

Ed Hueser said he has been working on his home for the last seven days. On Thursday, he was lucky enough to get volunteers to help him clean out the muck and water that accumulated in his basement.

Crews worked for hours to haul away debris and dig through the dirt to try and find any valuables that may have been buried underneath. However, the biggest priority for Hueser was making sure his home was ready for winter-like weather in fall.

"I drained the lines, and I'm going to go in and pour a little anti-freeze in the traps and toilet and in the kitchen sink and bathroom sink," Hueser said.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office said the town is expected to restore energy to some homes on Friday.
