KUSA - Don't know what to do with that quickly-wilting Christmas tree?

Don't toss it out! Recycle it!

Tree drop-off sites are open through Jan. 26 across the state.

Aurora donors can drop off their trees until Jan. 13 at Del Mar Park, Olympic Park and Saddle Rock Golf Course. All nails, decorations and stands must be removed from the trees. Free mulch is available at tree drop-off sites. Residents must bring their own truck, bags, containers and shovels.

Denver recycling locations open on Jan. 6 and last through Jan. 17. Donors have to remove all the decorations and the tree stand. If you set the tree out for collection, a special truck for recycling will pick it up. Do not place the trees in Dumpsters. Residents can reclaim their free mulch in the spring.

In Arvada, Christmas tree recycling already started and lasts until Jan. 20. There are three drop-off sites that are completely free: City Parks Maintenance Shop, Lake Arbor Lake Park and Lutz Sports Complex.

Parker residents can drop off their Christmas trees until Jan. 26 at the Salisbury Park Ballfields at 11920 Motsenbocker Rd. Both green and flocked real trees are accepted from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. These trees are chipped into mulch and are available for free to all residents the first week in January.
