DENVER - Colorado's Department of Revenue says it won't know how much money the state's pot shops made on January 1 until tax reports come in next month. However, pot shop owners believe they collectively made more than $1 million statewide.

Consultants at Medicine Man in Denver said the pot shop made three times more than it did on its best day when marijuana was legalized in Colorado on Wednesday.

At least one pot shop had to close its doors early in Denver on Wednesday when it ran out of pot.

Owners at Medicine Man said they were well prepared and planned in advance. They didn't even need to purchase additional pot from other dispensaries.
Pot shops are allowed to purchase 30 percent of additional pot from other dispensaries if their supply runs out.
