Adam Schrager - 9NEWS Legislative Reporter
Adam Schrager joined the 9NEWS team in September 1999 as a general assignment reporter. Since arriving in Denver, Adam has covered the state Capitol and the T-REX Project, in addition to reporting on the news of the day.
Adam was born in Evanston, Illinois. He took his first journalism class because it was the only high school class none of his three older sisters had taken. What began as coincidence turned quickly into dedication.
"The great part about this business is getting to meet extraordinary people who would simply describe themselves as ordinary. That makes them that much more extraordinary in my eyes. I'm not talking about the athletes or the lawmakers or the company executives, but I'm talking about the neighbor who organizes a fundraiser for a friend with cancer. Or how about the person who stands up for what they believe in because they know it's right even though right off the bat, everyone's telling them they're wrong. There are good people in our every day lives and it's our job to find them and share their stories with you.
"This is a business where we can help, where we should help. This is a business where you can make a difference. That's the goal every day."
Adam has a Bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He began his career in 1991 with CBS News in London. From there, he moved back to the United States to work as a reporter, producer and anchor at WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Almost three years later, he went to WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, as a political reporter. Two years after that, Adam continued his travels eastward across Wisconsin to Milwaukee where he worked for another three years before moving to Denver.
Adam lives in the metro area with his wife, Cathy. His interests include reading, writing, and sports, particularly basketball and baseball.
