Dave Delozier has been a reporter and photographer for 9News for the past 33 years. His career as a journalist has spanned more than 37 years. Delozier began his career as a still photographer for the Tribune-Democrat newspaper in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and with United Press International in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
During his time at KUSA 9News he has been involved in the daily news coverage of stories throughout the Rocky Mountain west. He has also traveled to other parts of the world to bring stories home to viewers in Colorado. Most recently he traveled to Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima with a group of World War II veterans to tell their stories. He has also traveled to the Middle East to produce a documentary on the birth and unrest surrounding the nation of Israel and to Japan to document the nation and its burgeoning economy. Delozier has also produced news stories for 9News in the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Canada and Athens, Greece for the 2004 summer games.
Two of Delozier's more memorable assignments for 9News involved his coverage of the XXVII Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia and an hour-long documentary that he produced on Pope John Paul II. The documentary on Pope John Paul II, "The Keeper of the Faith" allowed Delozier unprecedented access to the Pope and the Vatican during Holy Week.
Delozier has been recognized for his work by a wide variety of professional news organizations. Most recently he was named the 2011 Colorado Broadcaster of the Year by the Colorado Broadcasters Association. He has been the recipient of thirty-two Emmys in a variety of categories. He is the 2009 NPPA National Solo Video Journalist of the Year and he is a five-time National Press Photographers Association Regional Television News Photographer of the Year. In 1987 Delozier was named the National Press Photographers Association's National Television News Photographer of the Year.
Delozier has also been honored with Associated Press and Colorado Broadcasters Association awards. In 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012 he was honored with the prestigious RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award for his work at 9NEWS.
An avid golfer, he currently carries a 7 handicap. He is also an ardent fan of his native Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers, Penguins and Pitt Panthers.
