TaRhonda Thomas joined the 9NEWS Team in July of 2007, after working as an anchor and reporter for NBC12 in Richmond, Virginia.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native began her career at KWBJ-TV in Morgan City, Louisiana. She also spent three and a half years at KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs.

TaRhonda is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She enjoys going back home as much as possible, to visit her parents.

In 2008 The Colorado Association of Black Journalists named her "Broadcast Journalist of the Year." In 2009 she won her first Emmy award for political reporting.

In 2010 she received the Kaiser Permanente "Thrive Award" for excellence in reporting on health disparities facing minorities. And in 2011, she beat out journalists from across the country to win three national awards from the National Association of Black Journalists.

TaRhonda is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She enjoys reading, shopping, exercising and spending time with her husband and three children.
