Here's what you can expect from east to west:

  • The Northeast will have periods of snow and rain through Sunday as a storm system moves into Canada. Rain will cause problems from the Mid Atlantic to New York City with winds up to 50 mph.
  • On the back side of this storm, more snow expected around the Midwest for Lower Michigan, the eastern Great Lakes states, south into West Virginia with 6 inches or more of accumulation.
  • Most of Florida will be mild and dry with the exception of southern Florida with a chance for thunderstorms.
  • Very stable air will keep the weather dry and temperatures mild in the 50s and 60s for much of the Great Plains and desert southwest.
  • The mountains of California and Oregon will have moderate to heavy snow through Sunday with the highest elevations in the Sierras expecting 1 to 3 feet of new snow.

That west coast storm is on track to move into Colorado for the Christmas holiday!
