The woman who helped produce that calendar, Kirsten Hamling, pleaded guilty earlier this year to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the proceeds for use on airline tickets, haircuts, car repairs, and her kids' private school tuition.

Hamling's organization, Fired Up For Kids, was dissolved earlier this year. A new non-profit, the Colorado Firefighter Calendar Organization, formed in its place and presented a total of $25,000 to the Children's Hospital Burn Center and Burn Camp Friday.

"This is amazing," Colorado Firefighter Calendar Board Member Jim Smith said. "We've come a long way to get to here."

"It has been a long road, and we have overcome a lot of obstacles," Perry Palmer, the organization's president, said.

The Denver District Attorney charged Hamling with 13 counts of theft, four counts of charitable fraud, three counts of filing a false tax return, two counts of failure to file a tax return and one count of attempt to influence a public servant.

As part of a plea deal, 22 charges against her were dropped and she pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft.

She is due for sentencing Dec. 20. She is facing two years in prison and more than $250,000 in restitution.

"In your own mind, you think, 'why?' But then, you just let it go," Smith said.

"We've had to regain that trust with the public and we are slowly doing that," Palmer said.
