DENVER - A day after 9Wants to Know investigated possible stimulus waste within a government funded internet agency, a member of Congress says he plans to question the program's source of funding.

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) said he expects to meet with members of the National Telecommunications & Information Administration on Monday to question why EagleNet may be duplicating a service with stimulus funds.

"It is my hope that we'll get some answers from EagleNet as to why they have failed to provide internet to truly underserved communities while simultaneously building networks to towns that already have multiple high-speed internet providers," Gardner said.

EagleNet is operating on a $100-millionstimulus grant through the NTIA with the goal of connecting rural schools and town governments to fiber optic network.

On Thursday, 9Wants to Know found evidence EagleNet is installing fiber optic lines in places where there are already connections as other communities literally remain out of the fiber loop.
