DENVER - Tonight, 9Wants to Know is profiling a case involving a man with severe mental illness who was found with an assault rifle, ammunition and tactical gear after he made threats to kill people.

Behind the crime is the story of a mother who struggled to get long-term mental health treatment for her son. The suspect's mother ended up turning in her own son to police after was powerless to get attention within the mental health system.

Tonight we will hear from another mother in a similar situation who's been struggling to get mental treatment for her adult son who also is suffering with severe mental illnesses.
