Meeker will furnish Capitol Christmas tree

The capitol tree was cut down just outside Meeker.

"[It] typically is real quiet around here," Dan Schwartz with Ripple Creek Lodge said.

That's changing, at least for a day, because Schwartz and his lodge are about to gain national exposure.

"It's like winning the lottery," Schwartz said.

It's all thanks to a special tree that will soon be standing bright and tall in front of the Capitol building in Washington D.C.

The tree will begin its journey to the nation's Capitol Friday.

Most of the cost surrounding the tree gets absorbed by volunteers and donations from sponsors like Mack truck, which donates several trucks and the fuel need to get the tree to D.C.
