This program is an alternative path to teaching that includes a 15-month educational program followed by a one-year in-school residency.
Once teachers complete the program, they earn a master's degree from the University of Denver and are guaranteed a teaching job with DPS.
They receive full reimbursement of their tuition to DU as well as a stipend while completing the program.
DTR is aimed primarily at career changers - people with experience in the professional world who may be seeking a new, more meaningful career path, and people who are bilingual (although Engilsh-only speakers and new college grads are welcome to apply). While applicants must already have a bachelor's degree, they don't need any prior experience teaching. DTR is seeking teachers for: Elementary Education in English and/or Spanish; Special Education in English and/or Spanish; and Secondary Education in Math or Science.
The application deadline is Feb. 15, but it is a lengthy application process, so people are encouraged to start early. You can learn more about the program here: www.denverteacherresidency.org
