The official start of winter isn't until Friday the 21st of December, but Colorado got a blast of the cold air and snow before this date. Even when the snow moved out, the very cold temperatures remained causing frigid wind chill readings Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. DIA recorded an early morning temperature of 10 degrees. Limon was at 0 and the plains was also in the single digits, not counting the wind chill temperature of at or below zero. Mountain temperatures dropped to -17 in Frisco and -24 in Alamosa, with wind chill readings between -20 and -30 degrees.

Sunny skies and southerly winds allowed Thursday's highs to feel 25 degrees warmer than the previous snowy and cloudy day. As we approach the weekend the dry weather will continue with a warming trend that will bring highs into the 50s.

For Christmas Eve, another winter storm will approach the high country and bring another chance for snow. A white Christmas is also in the forecast for the Front Range.
