44 people forced into the cold by overnight fire

THORNTON - Firefighters were called to the Reserve at Thornton apartments in the 9700 block of Welby Road before 2:00 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a fire.

The complex is located near the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Colorado Boulevard.

Police officers on scene tell 9NEWS that all the residents were able to escape and two people were treated on scene for minor injuries.

In all, 44 people have been displaced by the fire.

Investigators believe it started on the second or third floor of the building and has been extinguished.

Based on video taken by 9NEWS crews on scene the most significant damage appears to be on the third.
