METROMIX HALLOWEEN GUIDE 2011

City of the Dead is a 15,000-square-foot haunted house located at the Mile High Marketplace in Denver.

Gregg has a phobia of haunted houses but decided to overcome his fear so he could check the place out.

City of the Dead is a booming business, employing over 50 people.

"It provides a really good entertainment factor for people. It's not a big vacation, it's a nice one night out activity. Come out, get scared, bring the family!" co-owner Lyndsey Smith said.

City of the Dead features exciting sections like "Gory Rory's Garage," which is occupied by Rory, a chainsaw-wielding mechanic.

A haunted house may seem like all fun and games, but it actually requires a great deal of hard work and preparation.

"It takes a whole team of people [and] almost a year for planning, marketing, and accounting. Our build crew starts in February, planning new things for the next year, starting to build as early as June, and then begin setting up everything in August," Smith said.

Smith is proud to say that some people can't handle completing the entire house tour, and even marks a tally when this happens. Moss admitted that he would be one of these people.
