Copper Mountain is the first ski area to start making snow for the 2012-2013 ski season. They started making snow on Tuesday to prep for ski-race teams who want to train early.

"So, what they are doing is laying down that first layer of snow to harden the ground, in hopes of them layering on all the inches that they're going to need to build their base after Mother Nature starts to help out," Renoux told 9NEWS.

Copper Mountain is also allowing season-pass holders access to the race mountain. Find out more about that access here on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CopperMtn/posts/10151051379435812.

It's a beautiful sight to see for snow bunnies out there in Colorado. Copper Mountain opens on Nov. 2.
