Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) - Kenny Boynton led the way with 22 points on
8-of-10 shooting, as the No.10 Florida Gators demolished Alabama State, 84-35,
in what turned out to be the Gators' first game of the season.
The Gators' scheduled season opener against Georgetown was called at halftime
due to court conditions, but they came out ready to play on Sunday.
Patric Young posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, Erik
Murphy scored 15 points and Mike Rosario added 14 points for the Gators (1-0),
who lost to Louisville in the Elite 8 during last season's NCAA Tournament.
Bobby Brown and Joshua Freelove combined for 26 of Hornets' 35 points, as
Brown put in 14 while Freelove scored 12 for Alabama State (0-2).
