Jake Plummer accused of road rage.
I have to admit I was caught off guard by this story. I thought it more likely he'd flip the guy off.
In all seriousness, it's just another example of Jake getting himself into a situation he shouldn't be in. He's got to realize when he gets involved in things like this it's going to be big news in this town. Fair or not -- it's the truth.
That being said, I kind of respect the guy. He doesn't let anything change his behavior. No matter how absurd, he says and does exactly what he wants. That's refreshing at times. You rarely get to see an athlete be himself.
More often than not they're like programmed robots. They act and say what their public relations people want them to. Most of the time their lips are moving but nothing is coming out. They rely on clichés to get them through. They're boring. Unoriginal.
But not Jake. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. I'll be honest -- it's refreshing.
He doesn't necessarily care for the media so he doesn't act like he does. He doesn't like some fan yelling during a game so he lets him know. He doesn't like a local columnist outing his relationship with a cheerleader so he lets her know.
He's not savvy. Just real.
We look for these guys to be perfect. Well, guess what? They're not.
They screw up. Make mistakes.
That's not an excuse for Jake. He shouldn't be involved in situations like this. But he is human -- and I can relate to that.
