KUSA - Even in game winning shots, Avalanche goaltender and Russian Olympian Semyon Varlamov wasn't about to allow a goal to Slovakia.

He stopped all 27 shots he faced and a pair in the shootout following overtime. Varlamov is 2-0 in pool play - he was not on the ice for Team USA's dramatic win over Russia Saturday.

Varlamov only has a single shut out in 43 starts this season for Colorado.

Neither Avalanche player Paul Stastny nor Matt Duchene garnered a point for their respective Olympic squads - Team USA and Canada - Sunday. Stastny accounted for 5 shots on goal in their win over Slovenia.

Russia will play Norway in the qualification round Monday and for the right to face Finland in the quarterfinals. Avalanche captain and Sweden Olympian Gabriel Landeskog, Stastny and Duchene's team all earned a bye and will play again Tuesday.
