DENVER - Having the playoff games fall in the middle of the day is making it tough for Colorado Rockies fans to focus at work.
The distractions continue Thursday with game 2 against the Phillies starting at 12:37 p.m. Mountain Time. 9NEWS found out Rockies fans are doing their best to multi-task during Wednesday's game.
Just like any office, there are lots of computers at Linhart Public Relations in Denver. That meant some employees couldn't help but check the Rockies Web site.
Repeatedly.
Dayna Davis isn't ashamed to admit she gets distracted by a Rockies game.
"Well, I mean I am working, it's just you know, every few minutes I have to check the score," Davis said. "It's a huge deal, this is a really big deal, so I think it's completely justified. And I'm sure everyone is doing it, or everyone who is anyone is doing it."
She does try to keep the noise level down in her cubicle.
"You can't get too excited or people around you wonder," Davis said. "Now the thing that's tricky, when you're in the game, and especially if it's getting really heated, then you have to keep checking back and back and back."
9NEWS did ask Davis if her boss was aware of her multi-tasking abilities. She laughed, saying she thought her boss knew.
Davis would be right. It's safe to say the whole office is aware of her Rockies spirit. Davis's cubicle is draped in Rockies paraphernalia, including a purple table cloth, team banners and even a rooster sculpture with "Go Rockies" scrawled on it. She also has a pair of purple crocs displayed on her desk.
Lucky for Davis, her boss is fine with both the display of team spirit and the post season multi-tasking.
Managing Partner Sharon Linhart is a big Rockies fan herself. She has had season tickets since Coors Field was built.
"Absolutely. I would be disappointed in them if they weren't interested in what the Rockies were up to," Linhart said. "The Colorado Rockies are a pretty big part of our culture here I think in Downtown Denver, and part of what makes it so special to work here and live here in Denver."
"We work really hard, and we work hard for our clients every day, but we also have to play hard and that's what makes it a great place to work," Linhart said.
Even with a supportive boss, tracking the Rockies at work isn't as much fun as watching the game at home or in person. That's why Davis is so excited for the Rockies to return to Coors Field.
"I do have tickets to the Championship Series if we make it," Davis said. "Again, this is a huge deal! I mean we're in it, we're making it this year."
