DENVER - Colorado residents and students are showing their Rockies pride Friday by sporting purple.

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and Denver Public Schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg have encouraged all fans to wear purple Friday as the Rockies return to Colorado for their first playoff home game this weekend.

"The Colorado Rockies will return to Coors Field on Saturday to continue their march toward a second World Series appearance in three years," Hickenlooper said, a lifelong baseball enthusiast.

Boasberg is encouraging everyone in the Denver Public School District to show support by wearing purple

"This is a really exciting time for our city and for our kids," Boasberg said. "And I'm sure we'll see tremendous Rockies' spirit at our schools on Friday."
